What are Cub Scouts?

Jamboree of the Trail (JOTT) hike 2010

Archery 2017

Annual abseiling day

Cub Scouts is for boys and girls aged 8 to 10 years and focuses on exploring the outdoors, discovery and learning interesting things!  Cub Scouts belong to a Pack and begin to learn leadership and teamwork in small teams called Sixes.

As a member of the Pack the cubs will make new friends and build their social skills.  At 2nd Toowoomba Cub Scouts are always having adventures.  Our pack often does abseiling, canoeing, archery, hiking and camping.  The cubs learn valuable life skills such as leadership and taking responsibility for themselves.  They are taught the value of citizenship and how to give back to their communities.

Cub Scout families are welcome to get involved too!  It takes a lot of adults to supervise our adventures so we welcome responsible adults who can help us out.  Why not join your child on their adventure too and sign up as a registered adult helper and come on camp with them!

The Cub Scout Law

Be Respectful

Do what is Right

Believe in Myself

The Cub Scout Promise

On my honour,

I promise to do my best,

To be true to my spiritual beliefs,

To contribute to my community and our world,

To help other people,

And to live by the Scout Law

or

On my honour,

I promise that I will  do my best,

To do my duty to my God,

And to the Queen of Australia,

To help other people,

And to live by the Scout Law

The Cub Scout Prayer

Each meeting is opened and closed by a 'Cub Scout parade'.  This is a formal ceremony raising or lowering the flag, performing the 'grand howl', presenting achievement badges (as required) and reciting the cub scout prayer:

Help us Oh Lord, to serve you day by day

To do our Duty and enjoy our play.

To keep the Cub Scout promise, and to rest,

Happy that we have tried to do our best.  Amen
